INGREDIENTS

5 Apples

1 cup brown sugar

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. cloves

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

unsalted butter or bowl with vegetable oil

1 package of phyllo dough

1/4 cup Rum or Whiskey

1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. cardamom

1/2 tsp. nondairy butter (plant base)

  • TO MAKE

Peel off the Apples, cut to small cubes.

Melt butter and add spices to a pan.

Cooke for 8-10 minutes, add nuts and cook for 5 more minutes.

Place first phyllo dough and brush with butter, repeat with 6 phyllo dough.

Transfer the apple mixture to the phyllo dough pan.

Cover with all the rest of phyllo dough, make sure each phyllo dough is brushed with butter.

Slice the apple baklava to 2โ€x2โ€ each square.

Brush generously the top phyllo dough.

Bake at 375F (195C) for about 30 minutes.

In this Baklava there is no need to drizzle with syrup, the apple mixture has a lot of liquids.

As always, with love, from my kitchen to yours
