Welcome!
Nice to meet you, I’m Chef Yaffa!
I was born in Israel & grew up in a large Moroccan Jewish family of 10 siblings. When I was 5 we lost my father to a heart disease and I watched my Mom struggling , working very hard to raise us. My Mom used to stay up late to make sure that lunch was ready for the next day while she was at work, so I used to stay with her & help her cook so that she can finally go to bed to rest. As a teenager I was already cooking and baking at home to take off the load from my Mom.
As a young Mom myself I worked as a personal chef for many years & later on opened my own restaurant & a wedding/Bar Mitzvah catering named- Yaffa’s Savory, & loved the community that we created. Sephardic Jewish community in America is less known like the Ashkenazi Jewish community, so I felt the need to introduce this side of the Jewish community to my fans & help them learn the history of a dish, holidays in the Sephardic community and serve as a bridge between the two communities.
On my Youtube channel viewers can explore foods from all the jewish communities that are considered Sephardic & Mizrachi around the Mediterranean sea. Today I offer culinary workshops on Zoom worldwide & in private, and upload a video a week to my youtube channel.
As my channel grew I started with your help to support three charities (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project and International Fellowship of Christians and Jews) that are very close to my heart.
My true enjoyment is baking cookies with my two granddaughters, Lyla & Noa.
