How to make sweet potato jam recipe This sweet potato treat is everything- it’s a jam, pie flavor, cake filling, roulade & cookies flavor.

It’s an old-world authentic recipe that my mom used to flavor so many of her dishes with.

INGREDIENTS

2.2 lb. oranges with very thick peel

2.2 lb. sugar

juice of one lemon

  • TO MAKE

Zest the orange, keep the zest to use for other desserts, I usually freeze it.

Place the orange in a pot with water, cook for 10-15 minutes, let it cool.

dump the water, refill the pot with fresh water, cover the pot and refrigerate overnight.

The next day, dump the water, make 4 soft cuts in the orange, keep the top and bottom intact.

Place the orange in a pot with the sugar, cover the pot & cook on low heat , while turning the orange every 10 minutes.

After one hour the sugar starts to melt & caramelized, keep the pot covered & cook on very low heat, careful not to burn. shake the pot every 15 minutes, cook another hour.

after 2-2.5 hours add the juice of one lemon, gently mix the lemon juice in, cook another 30 minutes.

Enjoy this unique dessert and pass it on.
