Cranberry Orange Challah

INGREDIENTS

1/3 cup orange juice

1+1/2 Tbsp. dry yeast

1/4 cup honey

1 egg yolk

2 eggs

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1+1/4 tsp salt

4 cup flour

1 egg for brushing

1/4 cup dry cranberries

1/4 cup raisins (optional)

1 tsp fresh orange zest

TO Make

Place the dough hook in the mixer,

  • gradually add all the ingredients by the order in the ingredients list.(except cranberries, raisins & orange zest)

  • mix for a minimum of 8 minutes

  • Spray a bowl with oil & transfer the dough, cover and let rest for 1.5 hour

  • Add cranberries , raisins & orange zest to the dough, mix well

  • divide the dough to 3 equal parts

  • Braid it like a simple long challah

  • Place in a round baking pan

  • Cover with a towel, let sit for 40-60 minutes

  • Bake at 350F (180C) for about 20 minutes, than cover loosly with foil & bake another 10 minutes

  • Serve for breakfast, snack , for holidays & shabbat.
